A graduate of Drexel University (MS in Information Science) and Grinnell College (BA in Spanish), Carol Hixson has been the Dean of University Libraries at Florida Atlantic University since August 2015. She also served as the Dean of Library at USF St. Petersburg for six years and as the University Librarian at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, Canada for three years. She believes that academic libraries are here to serve students first and to help universities and colleges achieve their mission of educating and preparing students for a life of continuous learning, personal growth, and contribution to society. They achieve this by being responsive to students, developing useful collections, and partnering with faculty and the broader community.
